Local District Training Program for Teaching Grades P-12

You are a candidate for this route if you:

  • Have a bachelor's degree with a 2.75 GPA (exceptional experience may be substituted for GPA requirement);
  • Have passed required written assessments in the specialty area;
  • Have completed a 30-hour course of study in the specialty area or have five years of exceptional field experience related to the certification area being sought; and
  • Have an offer of employment from a school district that has an approved training program.* 

After successfully meeting the requirements of the one-year training program, the candidate receives a one-year Provisional Certificate and participates in the Kentucky Teacher Internship Program (KTIP). Upon successful completion of the internship program, the candidate receives the Professional Certificate.
